Tombstone, Arizona has long been considered one of the most haunted places in America. With a violent history of gunfights, saloon brawls, mine collapses, and frontier justice, it’s no surprise that many believe the spirits of cowboys, outlaws, and lawmen still walk these dusty streets. Open from 1881 to 1889, the Bird Cage Theatre was a notorious saloon, theater, gambling hall, and brothel that operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for 8 straight years.
The final resting place of outlaws, gunfighters, and ordinary citizens of early Tombstone. Many buried here met violent ends — and some say they never truly rested.
Originally the Grand Hotel built in 1881, this building is now a famous saloon named after Doc Holliday’s companion, Mary Katherine “Big Nose Kate” Horony.
Built in 1882, the courthouse served as the seat of Cochise County government. Trials, hangings, and frontier justice made this a place of intense emotion.
